WEEKLY SCHEDULE
FOR
9TH GRADE


MONDAY, APRIL 23RD:

1st, 3rd and 5th Periods:

Pass out vocabulary and suspense handout for Act 3 of ROMEO and JULIET.
Read Act lll and take notes.

3rd Period:

ENGLISH WORKSHOP is due today; “gerund phrases”; pages 159 - 160; exercises 10 and 11.

6th Period:

Journal:

DATEBOOK; pages 61 - 63; “A Poem for Magic”; create a poem for someone you admire using word-sounds and word-images that capture the person visually and aurally.

Read Chapter 10, “Dragon” in ENDER’S GAME.


TUESDAY, APRIL 24TH:

1st, 5th and 6th Periods:

Your ENGLISH WORKSHOP is due; “gerund phrases”; exercises 11 and 12; pages 151 and 152.

3rd Period:

Your Unit Two Vocabulary is due today.

1st, 3rd and 5th Periods:

Read Act lll of ROMEO and JULIET. HEADS UP: WHEN WE FINISH ACT lll there will be a wee small test over literary terms, comprehension, characters and vocabulary in Act lll.

6th Period:

Journal:

DATEBOOK; pages 80-83; “Thumbprint”.

Break into groups of four to read ENDER’S GAME. You will take turns reading, summarizing and asking/answering questions. You will turn in your summaries, your questions and answers at the end of the period.


WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25TH:

1st and 5th Periods:

Assign pages 91 - 107 in VOCABULARY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT; this will be due on Tuesday, May 1st.

Finish up Act lll of ROMEO and JULIET; review for test.

3rd Period:

Assign Unit Three from vocabulary book. This will be due on Monday, April 30th.

Finish up Act lll of ROMEO and JULIET; review for test.

6th Period:

Assign pages 91 - 107 in VOCABULARY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT; this will be due on Tuesday, May 1st.

Break into groups of four to read ENDER’S GAME. You will take turns reading, summarizing and asking/answering questions. You will turn in your summaries, your questions and answers at the end of the period.


THURSDAY, APRIL 26TH:

1st and 5th Periods:

Write ten sentences with gerund phrases using your vocabulary words from VOCABULARY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT; pages 91 - 107.

3rd Period:

Write ten sentences with gerund phrases using your vocabulary words from Unit Three.

1st, 3rd and 5th Periods:

Tentative test for Act lll. The test will be any day after we finish Act lll, so it may be earlier than Thursday.

6th Period:

ENGLISH WORKSHOP; “infinitive phrases”; pages 153 and 154; this will be due on Tuesday, May 1st.

Read ENDER’S GAME. Break into groups of four to read ENDER’S GAME. You will take turns reading, summarizing and asking/answering questions. You will turn in your summaries, your questions and answers at the end of the period.


FRIDAY, APRIL 27TH:

1st, 3rd and 5th Periods:

Read ROMEO and JULIET, Act Vl. Work on Act Vl vocabulary and adjective clause handouts.

6th Period:

Write ten sentences using infinitive phrases with your vocabulary words from pages 91 through 107 in your VOCABULARY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT.


Read ENDER’S GAME. Break into groups of four to read ENDER’S GAME. You will take turns reading, summarizing and asking/answering questions. You will turn in your summaries, your questions and answers at the end of the period.
