WEEKLY SCHEDULE

9TH GRADE ENGLISH





MONDAY, APRIL 28TH:

1st and 2nd Periods:

Translate Juliet’s speech “Gallop apace, you fiery footed steeds” into contemporary English: find one example each of personification, metaphor, simile, allusion, and paradox; illustrate each example, and then translate into contemporary English.

Read Act Three, Scene Two, Three and Four and then of course, swashbuckle our way through our reading logs.

5th Period:

Finish working on Juliet’s speech and then read Act Three, Scene One and Two of ROMEO and JULIET, act out and of course, work on our reading logs.


TUESDAY, APRIL 29TH:

SHORTENED DAY!

1st, 2nd and 5th Periods:

Please bring your vocabulary book today.

Journal: Please write five sentences using your vocabulary words as either verbals or participials.

Continue reading, acting out and swashbuckling our way through Act Three of ROMEO and JULIET and of course, working on our reading logs.

HEADS UP! When we finish reading Act Three we will have a test and our Act Three vocabulary and literary terms handout will be due.

1st Period:

Please bring your ENGLISH WORKSHOP: fourth course to class today; “Gerunds” ; pages 157 and 158; exercises 8 and 9 will be assigned. This assignment will be due on Friday, May 2nd.

Go over the Act Three vocabulary and literary terms handouts and review for the test.

2nd Period:

Please bring your ENGLISH WORKSHOP: third course to class today; “Gerunds”; pages 149 and 150; exercises 9 and 10 will be assigned. This assignment will be due on Friday, May 2nd.

5th Period:

FRIDAY, MAY 2ND:

1st and 2nd Periods:

Go over the Act Three test answers. Begin reading Act Four of ROMEO and JULIET.
