OCTOBER 31ST WEEKLY AGENDA
for
9th Grade


Monday, October 31st:

Read Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” and “The Tell-Tale Heart”
Discuss unreliable narrator and the three ironies: situational, verbal and dramatic.
Work on the packet for “The Cask of Amontillado”.

Your vocabulary homework: pages 24 - 33: exercises 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, and 24, is due today. We will go over this in class tomorrow.


Tuesday, November 1st:

Assign groups. Each group of three to four will present three short skits which will illustrate situational, verbal and dramatic irony. We will begin presentations on Friday.

Your adverbial clause handout will be due today.
We will go over your vocabulary homework which was turned in on Monday.


Wednesday, November 2nd:

Please bring your English Workshop; I will assign pages 165 - 166 over adverbial clauses. This will be due on Friday, November 4th.

Break into your groups and begin writing the three ironic skits.


Thursday, November 3rd:

Write a short story using ten of your vocabulary words.

Break into your groups and continue writing the three ironic skits.

Fourth period: Meet in auditorium



Friday, November 4th:

We will go over your English Workshop homework: pages 165 - 166; “Adverbial clauses.

Write a short story using ten of your vocabulary words. You must use an adverbial clause in your short story.

Begin presenting your three ironic skits. The rest of the class will try to determine which kind of irony is being used in each skit.
