WEEKLY SCHEDULE
FOR 9TH GRADE
ENGLISH
MONDAY, MAY 19TH:
CALIFORNIA STATE TEST
1st and 5th Periods will meet today.
1st Period:
Today we will break into groups, analyze Act 5 for literary tropes in preparation for the ROMEO and JULIET Act V test. Each group will identify a literary device (personification, metaphor, simile, paradox, oxymoron, apostrophe, hyperbole, etc.), illustrate it, and translate into contemporary English.
Please be sure to bring your ROMEO and JULIET Act V packet, which we will briefly go over in preparation for the test. Remember, the packet is due at the time of the test.
The essay topics for ROMEO and JULIET will be posted tonight on the blog.
5th Period:
We will finish our presentations of Act lV literary tropes. We will briefly go over the ROMEO and JULIET Act lV packet and then we will have the test over Act IV.
TUESDAY, MAY 20TH:
CALIFORNIA STATE TEST
1st and 2nd Periods will meet today.
1st Period:
We will go over a list from which you will choose an essay topic on ROMEO and JULIET. This is an in-class essay which will be due on Thursday, May 22nd.
The essay topics will be posted on the blog Monday night, May 19th.
2nd Period:
Today we will finish working on our analysis of literary tropes for ROMEO and JULIET which we will then present to the class.
We will briefly go over the ROMEO and JULIET Act V packet and then we will have the Act V test.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 21st:
CALIFORNIA STATE TEST
1st and 2nd Periods will meet today.
1st and 2nd Periods:
Work on your in-class essay on ROMEO and JULIET.
THURSDAY, MAY 22nd:
CALIFORNIA STATE TEST
1st and 2nd Periods will meet today.
1st and 2nd Periods:
Your in-class essay is due today.
We will break into groups, rewrite the major events of the play in contemporary English and then act out the scenes for the enjoyment of the rest of the class. We will begin performing the scenes on Friday at which time the scripts and ye olde reading logs will be due.
FRIDAY, MAY 23rd:
Regular Schedule:
1st and 2nd Periods:
Begin presenting your scenes. Remember, your scripts and your reading logs are due today.
5th Period:
Begin reading Act 5 of ROMEO and JULIET.
