Monday, April 20th:
The final rewrite of the literary analysis of “War Party” and “Incident on Sycamore Street” is due today. You must also include the original essay (the one you wrote in the booklet) along with your rewrite.
Before you turn in the rewrite, please highlight in yellow the topic sentence in your paragraphs, then highlight in orange the background information in your body paragraphs, highlight in green the introduction to your quotation; highlight in pink your quotation and then highlight in “skin” your comment on the quotation.
Break into pairs and then “peer edit” each other’s papers. With pencil please check for correct capitalization and complete sentences. Then turn in your rewrites and the booklet.
We will begin reading and acting out ROMEO and JULIET.

Please be sure to write down the act and the scene number and the summary on the left, and your response and prediction on the right. On the bottom please write vocabulary words on the bottom.

Tuesday, April 21st:
Shortened day!
Warm-up: Using your vocabulary words from pages 61- 68 from VOCABULARY for the HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT please write five sentences: two with adjective clauses (with relative pronouns: who, which and that) and three with adverbial clauses (beginning with subordinate conjunctions: since, after, even though, etc.)
Continue reading and acting out ROMEO and JULIET.

Wednesday, April 22nd:
Warm-up: Using your vocabulary words from pages 61- 68 from VOCABULARY for the HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT please write five sentences: two with adjective clauses (with relative pronouns: who, which and that) and three with adverbial clauses (beginning with subordinate conjunctions: since, after, even though, etc.)
Continue reading and acting out ROMEO and JULIET. We will find metaphors and similes and personifications that are sprinkled throughout the play, and then draw pictures illustrating the figurative language.

Today we will act out the scenes that we have read this week.

I am going to take my acting class to the Pasadena Playhouse today so please bring your Vocabulary Workshop to class. The assignment; pages 61-68; exercises 9-15, will be due on Friday, April 17th.

Thursday, April 16th:
Warm-up: Write five sentences using words from pages 61 - 68 in vocabulary book. Write three sentences with adverbial clauses and two with adjective clauses.
Continue working on the first act in ROMEO and JULIET.

Friday, April 17th:
Your Vocabulary Workshop assignment will be due today.
