October 26th Weekly Agenda for 9th Grade Honors English

Monday, October 26th:
We are a little behind this week due to my absence so we will continue the curriculum intended for last week:

Go over Vocabulary Unit 2 homework.

There is a change in the grammar homework; we will check out a new grammar book and start with subordinate and independent clauses.

Check out new grammar book: HOLT HANDBOOK: Third Course. Assign pages 96 - 100; exercise 1; “Identifying Independent and Subordinate Clauses”. This new assignment will be due on Wednesday, October 28th.

Begin reading “The Necklace”.

Tuesday, October 27th:
Shortened Day!
Continue reading “The Necklace”.
Pass out “The Necklace” vocabulary, grammar and literary terms packet. This will be due when we finish reading and discussing “The Necklace”.

Wednesday, October 28th:
Check out your vocabulary Unit 2 homework.
Your grammar homework is due today: HOLT HANDBOOK: Third Course; page 100; Exercise 1; “Identifying Independent and Subordinate Clauses”.
Warm-ups: Write five sentence using your vocabulary words from Unit 2 with subordinate clauses.
Class Assignment: Continue the story after the last line of the short story from “The Necklace”. You will pair up with another student and write the next scene - what happens next - after the story ends.

Thursday, October 29th:
Read “The Cask of Amontillado”
Pass out the vocabulary, grammar and literary terms packet for “The Cask of Amontillado”.

Friday, October 30th:
Continue reading “The Cask of Amontillado” plus a little pinch of “The Raven”.
Heads up for next week: We will prepping next week for the District Periodic Assessment on Persuasion. The official District Periodic Assessment is slated for November 8th, 9th and 10th.
