WEEKLY AGENDA FOR 9TH GRADE HONORS

Monday, March 9th:
Begin reading “Marigolds” for a literary analytical essay. You will keep “Cornell Notes” which you will turn in for a grade when we are finished with the reading.
Cornell Notes: Divide your paper lengthwise. On the left side of the paper you will write a summary of what you have read. On the right side, you will write a response. At the bottom of the page you will write down any vocabulary words you did not understand.
Break into groups, choose five words and construct a song and dance or a skit using the five words. Each skit or song and dance must use the words, use the words in a grammatically correct way, and must illustrate the meaning of the word through context or by actual definition. This is in lieu of a test and will be performed on Friday.

Fourth Period:

Your essay, reading log and collage for THE PERKS OF BEING A WALL FLOWER are due today.

The essay should be in the form of a letter, minimum of two pages, in which you address Charlie regarding an incident in the book. You must comment on the incident; you must express an opinion about the incident, you may relate it to an event in your own life, or you may give advice. It is essential that you make specific references to the book.

Your reading log should be approximately fourteen pages (or seven pages front and back), should cover fifteen pages of the book at a time, should be in the form of a letter, should summarize the events, offer a personal response to the events, and include any unfamiliar vocabulary words.
