FOR 9TH GRADE

Monday, November 7th:

First Period:

Assign adverbial phrase handout from Sentence Combining for High School Students. This will be due on Wednesday, November 9th.

“The Cask of Amontillado” packet will be due on Monday. Go over the “Heightened Style of Edgar Allan Poe”, exercises 1 and 2; and “Revising Two Paragraphs” exercise 3.

Break into groups of three and write three short stories: each short story should illustrate one of the following types of irony: situational, verbal and dramatic. You will present your short story on Tuesday.

Tuesday, November 8th:

Present your ironic short stories today.
Go over vocabulalry homework, pages 24 - 33; exercises 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24.
Begin work on the first paragraph of your literary analysis.

Wednesday, November 9th:

Write a short story using ten of your vocabulary words. Be sure to use an adverbial clause in the short story.
Your Adverbial phrase handout will be due today.
Finish presenting your ironic playlet/short story today.
Work on the second paragraph of your literary analysis.

Thursday, November 10th:

Work on the third paragraph of your literary analysis.

Friday, Novmebr 11th:

Veterans Day. We have today off to remember the valor and sacrifice of our service men and women.
