Monday, October 24th:

For 1st and 2nd period:

Read “The Gift of the Magi” in the Elements of Literature anthology.

For fourth period:

Class will be held in room #508 today because of fifth period final exam for C track. Finish writing the persuasive essay, the short constructed response and/or the multiple choice questions. The material is in one of the two blue/red bags behind the teacher’s desk in #509. Please allow Malik or Christian or Stewart to help you with passing out the material. Please be sure to collect the material at the end of the period.

Tuesday, October 25th:

Shortened Day!

We will go over an adverbial clause handout today. The homework will be due on Thursday, October 27th.

Begin working on a compare and contrast essay comparing the personalities of the Madame Loisel in “The Necklace” and the female character in “The Gift of the Magi”. We will start by using venn diagrams and t-graphs. The final draft will be due on Wednesday, October 26th.


Wednesday, October 26th:

Continue working on the compare and contrast essay. The final draft will be due at the end of the period on Wednesday.


Thursday, October 27th:

Your adverbial clause handout will be due today.

We will begin reading Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado”.
Please bring your Vocabulary Workshop today. The words on pages 25 - 25 will be assigned. The homework will be due on Monday, October 31st.


Friday, October 28th:

Continue reading Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado”.
Assign pages 165 - 166 in English Workshop; “Adverbial Clauses”; this will be due on Tuesday, November 1st.
